SBYC is a place where members work together to maintain and operate an outstanding environment for sailing enthusiasts. We are a dynamic club featuring an extensive calendar of cruising, racing, regatta and social events held during the summer and throughout the year. During the active season, there's usually members around that can give a tour of facilities and show the true beauty of the grounds, docks and clubhouse amenities. In the off season, it's best to reach out to our membership team to help answer any questions you have. If you want a great top down view of the area, check us out on Google Earth!

Annually, the Board of Directors reviews the membership fees and issues the fees statement for the year. Here is the 2024 fee schedule:

Submit Application and Fees

Fill out the Application Forms, either by printing, signing and scanning or mailing, or our NEW interactive PDF form that you can download, fill out with Adobe Reader, sign digitally and email for review. The Board will review your application and advise you of the result. Please note there is an application fee ($55) that will be applied to your membership dues upon approval. Please send applications to membership@sunshinebay.org, and etransfer fees to fees@sunshinebay.org

Do I need a boat to become a member?

Certainly not! There are a few boats for sale on our Noticeboard, as well as around Central Alberta if you look on buy and sell sites. If you're just wanting to race or gain some experience but have not yet made the decision to own your own boat, you can sign up as an Affiliate member which allows you to crew on other people's boats and have the benefits of being a member of SBYC and access to the clubhouse to try things out! This membership level is discounted to allow a trial of a full membership, is available for a limited length of time before having to convert to full member, as well a limited amount of Affiliate memberships are available each year.
